An original work from my studio archives, being offered as part of the 4-Day Collector's Sale.
From a series of 40+ ancestral mandalas created between 2020-2022.
This mandala explores the seven generations principle, weaving the roots of my earliest creative rebirth through silk painting, within an experimental technique exploring how the same freehand batik process with textiles could translate on paper.
This method also combined the sensual aromatics of beeswax, frankincense, and rosewater, impressed right into the paper along with the archival silk dye, to create a deeply meditative field/portal that emanates through the painting.
Note: as this geometry was realized entirely freehand with no predetermined image, using only a compass and straight-edge, a tiny, pin-size hole from the compass marks the center of the mandala. I like to think of it as the aperture through which the light emanates.
